Youth on the Move November is National Runaway and Homeless Youth Prevention Month, and House of Hope has partnered with HomeBase, a program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley, for Youth on the Move! This initiative shines a light on the very real needs of homeless youth and provides welcoming spaces for young people in crisis in our community. This month, look for green footprints painted on the windows of businesses and organizations throughout Green Bay and the Fox Cities. They indicate safe, supportive places in the community where youth can go to warm up, hang out, use wi-fi, learn about community resources, and receive a care package with snacks and hygiene products. Thanks to the House of Hope volunteers who helped assemble care packages and paint footprints on the windows of participating locations! A Community Wellness Fair, hosted by HomeBase, will be held on November 17 from 5-7 pm at the Appleton Boys & Girls Club, 160 Badger Ave. This free event is not only for those currently facing housing insecurity but for anyone who wants to learn more about youth homelessness and how they can provide support to this growing population right here in northeast Wisconsin. Come check out available local resources, participate in activities, and learn more about youth homelessness. Free care packages will be available for eligible participants. |
